The Beauty Moment for December '09

Well, here we are together in the growing cold of winter...it kinda sneaks up on us, no? As do the holidays. Every year there is more to do, more stuff to shop for and evermore people in need. How do we balance all the demands of the season and remain peaceful, happy, grateful...

I read a piece about this very subject a couple of weeks ago and I found it to be very helpful. One must take care of the self first. Does that sound shockingly selfish, or is it simply not gonna happen? Impossible you say?? Give it a try, and start small if that feels better. Do one thing each day that makes you happy, something that makes you laugh. Then do one thing each day that makes you feel better after.

Remember the saying "Ain't nobody happy if Momma ain't happy?" It's true!! Sit back, relax and I will give you a tour to make shopping here a little easier and more fun.

Sound good?? Let's go then...

In this dry, dry climate we all need an extra dose of moisture. We have a few new products that will help your skin feel better as winter deepens. My first love is Savannah Bee Royal Jelly Body Butter!! Everyone loves it!! The natural blackberry scent smells amazing and the combination of propolis, royal jelly and pecan butter make this butter feels divine. An added bonus is the pretty red box and the sweet little jar, just the thing to stash extra change or the seashells from your last beach vacation.

If you happen to be more of an after-the-bath oil girl... new from one of our best companies, Weleda, is Pomagranate Body Oil. Fanstastico!!! Magnifico!!! Made with 100% organic pomegrante oil from Turkey...how cool is that? I know, Turkey is far away and we want to buy local, but in this global village we also believe in fair trade and supporting small farmers everywhere. Plus, pomagrantes don't grow here in the U.S. and the health benefits make Weleda Pomagranate products so worth it!

You can bake with the oil, too. Really...I've done it! An Organic Chocolate Pomegrante Tart, in fact, and it's yummy and so, so pretty you'll want to take a picture (I did that, too), I dusted mine with powdered sugar. Delish!! Be sure to pick up the recipe right next to the product in Health & Beauty (or just follow this link). I'd love to know how you like the body oil and how your tart turned out! There is also have a gift kit with all three pomagrante products: Body Wash, Hand Cream, and Body Oil. A nice present for a hostess, hairdresser, mail delivery person or teacher. Coming in at just under $9.00, it is easy to give a thoughtful gift.

How 'bout a little holiday glam from Larenim?

We have new colors! Maybe you've seen them already, but if not, you don't want to miss this beautiful collection. Moonbeam, Captivate and Midnight Espresso are my favorite trio for the eyes. With just the right amount of shimmer... not to compete with your own bright, shining eye glimmer, of course. I begin with Moonbeam over the entire eye, add Captivate for contour and shading, finishing with Midnight Espresso along the lash line. There is also a coordinating blush I love: Cherish...love the name too!! Warm, deep but not too much, a beautiful, soft ,very wearable color.

Cherish the people you love, the animals in your life, your home...yourself inside and out.

Have you noticed the Rock n Socks? Are you a fan of stripes? How about recycled yarns with no added dye, and the best thing is they are made in the U.S.A. Yahoo!! The price range is great, too!! Starting at $9.95 for ankle and crew styles, $11.95 and $12.95 for the knee-hi's and (my current favorite) $13.95 for the over-the-knee! Totally yummy to wear, soft and sturdy, you will want to have a least a dozen or more. (I have 10). Oh yeah, almost forgot the arm/leg warmers, versatile, cozy but never bulky. You will wear these with everything.

Tara Handknits are new for us this year, and so far customers and employees alike agree the quality is superb!! A favorite in Portland and Seattle, we are proud to have them here at The Boise Co-op! Although they are designed by two sisters in Arcata, California, each purchase truly benefits a cooperative of women in Nepal with economic freedom and opportunities. If you are a fan of fair trade and empowering women throughout the world, this is a great purchase. They are priced a little higher, but definitely worth the investment. Plus... you or the lucky person you are buying for get to share and wear beauty for a cause. Love that!!!

Be well...relax, rest...play and dance. Sing... whatever brings you joy.

Blessings,
Cathy
